Spring 2012

  • Elizabeth Eagle, Liz Titone, and Middle School teachers Bessie Oster (health) and Michael Miller (art) traveled to Kenya to work with Ndonyo Wasin headmaster Paul Lepartingu and Thorn Tree Project/SENET manager Boniface Lesanjir on developing next steps for our partner school relationship.
  • Eagle, Titone, Oster and Miller worked with students on remedial reading skills and in small focus groups.

Summer 2012

  • Andrea Kelly, Kristen Barr (2nd grade), Maria Davis (LS science), Elizabeth Eagle (LS/MS visual art) and Liz Titone (LS art) embarked on a journey to Ndonyo Wasin to work with students and teachers on fine tuning writing instruction and to provide professional development focused on “hands on” inquiry based teaching and learning.
  • Through interviews and informal conversations Barr, Davis, Eagle and Titone laid down the foundation for an exciting new pen pal program uniting teachers in both schools personally and professionally.
  • Titone and Eagle collaborated with students on four new books: Colors of Ndonyo Wasin, My Body/Your Body, Samuel’s Animals and “The Best Part of Me”. The new volumes will be available in the Hart Library for all to enjoy.
