Hova Tavangar’s TED Talk

Hova Tavangar discusses methods and importance of teaching global education in the 21st century classroom.  She notes that the practices we choose in teaching can cause our students to view “others” as a charity case, or can inspire dignity.  She challenges us to “be a friend to the whole human race,” because through friendship, we can become global citizens.

This TIME photo feature explores what an average family eats in a week across the globe.  This could be used in conjunction with curriculum that explores judgements and assumptions we make about a community or culture.
