On becoming a teacher:
John originally wanted to practice medicine but felt it prudent to jump on the opportunity to accept a placement in a teaching course. John is passionate about maths and science but enjoys his post as a social studies teacher. John began his teaching career in Archer’s Post (6 years ago) and transferred to NWPS in 2009.
On being surprised about teaching (expectations and Day 1 jitters):
In the beginning of his career, John was challenged by classroom management issues. Thankfully he quickly found his way to strategies and a solid comfort zone.
On sharing and learning from each other:
John is curious about our curricula. He would love to discuss what subjects we teach and how we explore the content.
Requests:
John asked for materials to help the NW faculty improve their teaching and to support the students. He feels that the following items would help the school community immensely:
Social studies: pictures, atlases, books, visual guides to accompany the lecture content)
